After a high school shooting leaves a girl (Erika Christensen) wounded and nine others dead, the friends and relatives of the victims are left to try and make sense of the situation. A detective (Victor Garber) is given the difficult task of laying the blame on someone, and he focuses his attention on Alicia (Busy Philipps), an intense, gothic-styled young woman who was the only person present during the entire incident.
