The story of 16-year-old Mercy Donnelly, who shares a house with her mother and her Aunt Maureen. Mercy`s mother and her aunt had made plans to open up a cafe, but something has happened to Mercy`s mom: She is getting smaller and quieter with every passing day, and now hardly ever leaves her bedroom. Meanwhile, Mercy is trying to cope with life at school, a part-time job at a local flower shop, and her fears about her Aunt Maureen`s creepy boyfriend, Barry.
